"This is to Remember Me When I am Ded", Peter's 19th C. Ink and Watercolor Double Portrait school sampler with a flush wooden stem

with a flush wooden stem on one end and just right protrusion on the other

and rather unwieldy

I find this snapshot quite extraordinary

Loss around one eye as evident and old repair/repainting around the other I believe

plus a sort of a mohawk painted on top of the head

Burgard; I have turned up a Peter Gurgard born in 1822 in Rhineland Palatinate, Germany, married in 1850 in Erie, NY, which seems about right to me, period wise and in terms of the costumes here but I don't know for certain. There were a few scraps of notes included with it (see photos) noting it was purchased along with a 1829 fraktur
